Biography
Detlef Runde received the Dipl.-Ing. degree from Aachen University of Technology (RWTH
Aachen), Germany, in 1989.
His PhD degree he received from the Technical University of Berlin (TU-Berlin) in 2000.
He was with the Interactive Media - Human Factors Department of the Heinrich-Hertz-Institute (HHI),
Berlin, from 1989 til 2014,
where was working in different government-funded research projects on videocommunication employing advanced
technologies like HDTV, 3DTV and the realisation of eye-contact.
His main interests has been–inter alia–stereoscopic image reproduction, stereoscopic
telepointing and the stereoscopic reproduction of motion parallax.
From 10/94 to 3/95 he was with the Advanced Telecommunications Research Institute (ATR) Human Information Processing Res. Lab. (HIP) in Kyoto (Japan) as a visiting scientist doing research on the gain of motion parallax. Within the EU-project PHOTOLEDD (01/02 - 07/03) he was concerned with human factors issues of a 3D OLED micro-display. Within the other projects he worked on informal communication modules for distributed workgroups (01/99 - 05/02) and took part in the development of mobile citizen services (10/02 - 02/05), where he was responsible for data security. This idea was taken to other European Countries by the EU project Cidre (Citizen-Friendly Trans-European mGovernment Services, 01/07 - 12/08). The development and support of web-based eAppointment-systems and fully equipped suitcases for mobile citizen services was part of his work from 2006 until 2014. Within the project ORIMA (07/11 - 06/13), which was concerned with support solutions for school-shootings, he developed a web-based support platform for teachers, pupils and parents and the so called "ORIMA-Maps", interactive site maps for action and rescue forces for the use with tablets and smartphones. From 01/11 til 03/15 he was involved in the EU-project USEFIL (Unobstrusive Smart Environments For Independent Living), which aimed at supporting independent living of the elderly citizens as long as possible in their home by designing, developing and deploying widely adopted systems. Here he mainly dealt with the development of an Android App for informal communication between the elderly and their friends, relatives, carer and doctors. From 2014 to 2018 he worked for the Image & Video Understanding group at the Video Coding & Analytics (VCA) department. In the "sd-kama" (smart data disaster management) research project (04/2015 - 03/2018), he developed a web-based app for smartphones and tablets for emergency forces and affected persons on site. Another focus of his work was the implementation of privacy-by-design and privacy-by default principles as required by the EU General Data Protection Regulation. From 2018 to 2020 he worked in the Immersive Media & Communication (IMC) group of the Vision & Imaging Technologies (VIT) department. Since 2020 he is wiht the Interactive and Cognitive Systems (ICS) group. |

Spin-off
an.
Zusätzlich werden auch IT-Dienstleistungen wie z. B. Schulungen und Support für Mobile
Bürgerdienste (MoBüD) angeboten.
