      Short Bio

Serhan Gül graduated with a B.Sc. in electronics engineering at Sabanci University, Istanbul in 2012 and received his M.Sc. degree in communications engineering from Technical University of Munich in 2014. Since 2015, he has been with the Multimedia Communications group in the Video Communication and Applications department at Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute (HHI), Berlin.

His research interests lie in multimedia communication, networked media systems and computer vision, focusing on applications for immersive media. Serhan has led the technical work of Fraunhofer HHI in the BMWi/Celtic-Plus project VIRTUOSE (2016-19) and is actively working on the BMBF project VoluProf (2021-24). He is also an active contributor to video-related standardization activities in 3GPP.
